AI seems to be in that weird stage, I'm a nerd for new tech and stages in new tech. But I'm tired of people saying "we are so cooked" but are we really though?

Its like any other tool, it depends on how we use it. Lots of areas where it could make life substantially better, but plenty if ways it could allow us to destroy ourselves even quicker.

Hmm. So right now it's basically just a work enhancer. It doesn't replace actual people with knowledge, the reason people fear it is what it will do to the job market in the future. When it is good enough to replace people with knowledge. The issue is the speed at which it's getting there. It's not like cars where all the carriage makers, and farriers, and other horse related jobs just moved over to mechanics and manufacturing, and other services...there is no replacement jobs to be found. So data entry jobs, almost all entry level jobs such as tech support and phone support, most middle management jobs, most programming jobs, most artistic jobs, all of that is going to disappear with no new jobs for them. The issue is that the governmental social systems across the world aren't ready or built to handle that. Government takes a notoriously long time to actually enact effective laws to protect the people...and some governments(not getting into politics here ....) actively harm the individual liberties... So the true danger of AI is mass unemployment without options for those people.

Hey does anyone know what to do with old phones? I don't want to throw them away (aka, those phone for money things) most of all are still in good condition and I have a feeling that I could use them for something else, I just need some ideas.

Wake-on-Lan configuration with a Cloudflare based endpoint equals a home laptop that you can boot from any device with a browser.

It probably could be a bit more elegant, but after the second time of leaving home and realizing too late that I had left my laptop off, which kept me from remotely connecting to it, its "Good enough for government work", as a former Calculus professor of mine regularly said.
