Two Strangers, One Marriage, Two Dead Children (4 part of the story)

At twenty-six, the time came for him to settle down. His fiancée was twenty. They had met only three times—as dictated by religious custom, and to question those customs would have meant losing one’s footing. Despite his rebellious nature, Aslan believed in fulfilling his duty, and a man’s duty is… read more

Martin Luther King Jr. is often remembered in a sanitized way that makes America comfortable, not honest.

He was surveilled and harassed by the FBI, labeled “the most dangerous Negro in America.” He challenged not only racism but capitalism, economic exploitation, and militarism, supported labor unions, and organized the Poor People’s Campaign. He openly opposed the Vietnam War, calling the U.S. “the… read more

Defensiveness and ego doesn't make any relationship work

Always partner with people who say, 'I'm willing to work on that' not, 'that's just how I am.' Relationships can't be built on ego and rigidity. Love can not thrive where defensiveness rules. It's not just lovey-dovey that makes for lasting unions but rather how well we take correction without… read more

Choose wisely

There are relationships that bring you a great deal of clarity to your life. They form a base of stability and support that you can always revert to when you feel lost and unsure. There are people who you only need a conversation with, and your energy is restored. When you feel drained and… read more

Do you support people making unions to demand better conditions and pay from their employers?

Last week the employees of a NYC Amazon location voted to form Amazon's first union. This week, Starbucks’ biggest NYC location became the 9th store to unionize. All workers at these locations now pay a mandatory fee to a union that negotiates on behalf of workers. Unions were once popular in the… read more

How to Build Credit

My favorite way to help people establish credit is to suggest a shared-secured savings account or line of credit. The savings are treated like a loan; you can set up automatic payments. The bank will withdraw the entire amount & then deposit it back into the account. You sign a contract agreeing to… read more

Climates Be changing

I live on a reservation, and the blue collar resurgence is bad. No unions, disabled people fired and hired at will, as well as constant hazings. In my area there is a Dust Bowl climate, but I am hopeful with a strong Tribal investment in the forests and US parks service on the loggers backs it… read more

Unions, thoughts?

I had to join one for a new job and I've never taken part before. So I'm just curious about others who have joined one.

Guess the lyrics (Dont google them, or it's no fun!)

We're sorry, but you're no longer needed Or wanted or even cared about here Machines can do a better job than you And this is what you get for asking questions The unions agree Sacrifices must be made Computers never go on strike To save the working man you've got to put him out to pasture Looks… read more

On This Day in History - April 7, 1862

April 7, 1862 OTD American Civil War: The Union's Army of the Tennessee and the Army of the Ohio defeat the Confederate Army of Mississippi near Shiloh, Tennessee. Multiple sources list Union casualties as 13,047, with 1,754 killed, 8,408 wounded, and 2,885 missing or captured. Grant's army had… read more

The unions

Can anyone confirm or deny my suspicion? I only worked with a union once. It seems they hire temps, on a trial based. Then a slew of managers and union workers drive the temps into the ground while they sit back and do diddly jack for a paycheck.

Playball

I am in no way a sports fan. However, I thought this was relevant. The news reported the possibility of unions within collegiate sports. How do you feel about this?
