I've seen this in more than a few profiles saying the dorkiest thing about them is they like / love anime. Do people even still view anime as a nerd thing considering how widespread it is these days?

I think it maybe depends on how much they're into anime. If they mostly just watch the big popular stuff like MHA or Demon Slayer, it's not much nerdier than Star Wars or GoT. When they're getting down into less-popular or non-current titles it can get nerdy pretty quick imo.
