I realised that latetely I watch shonen and got tired of it

Question

I need a food for brain and soul, not just eye candy or basic moral conclusions, I wanna something that makes me question why, that makes me being surprised and come to new realisations, lately what I see it’s just a story with easy answers to easy questions, and I don’t blame it, it’s me who gets confused about own interests. The feeling of emptiness while watching wrong thing, feels dull because you don’t have anything to think about, anything to be obsessed about and discover your own self and the human nature more in depth. Something that I could talk unstoppable, to analyse and write whole paragraphs about it.

If I may suggest some more complex/emotional anime, "Death Note" has some Shonen tropes bust mostly personality, "Angel Beats" as well with more of a slice of life aspect to it. And if you're looking to really cry "You're Lie in April" might be the gut punch You're looking for. Best of luck with the search for the right watch

Have you seen Cowboy Bebop, Psycho Pass, Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood? I feel like there is so much depth in those shonen that I find myself going back when I need to feed my brain with some thoughts or unavoidable and uncomfortable truths that I choose to forget when everything goes too well.

In many regards the shonen genre caters to certain needs/wishes that appeals for some demography, hence at one point in my life I also walked away from it.
- Violet Evergarden was one that changed my tastes in what I want and need from an anime, and frankly... Even Frieren taught me about the humility and the absurdity of life (and how important it is to treasure it when you're in the moment).

It's about where does your compass point to.

For me "The angel next door spoils me rotten" or other something similar in terms of wholesomeness/slice of life is what I need, but... 
- Just like the Violet Evergarden, as mentioned, the "Your Lie in April" may be what takes you on the right tracks, regardless how bittersweet it is.

JJK is good shonen though. And plenty of symbolism and cryptic stuff in it. It's dark shonen that might escape the casual watcher, for sure. I don't really like many shonen out there but this one's good. But it's great to have some diversity with what you're consuming

For these last few days i watched again two anime: "Girls und Panzer" and "High School Fleet". Idk, why i still like these anime, cause they are kinda too naive and childhish, but damn, by own epic maybe... Especially first one. From that anime i still can't stop listening to whole list of marsches
