I’m genuinely curious what people think. Saw some comments today where several people were saying things along the lines of  ‘this is a dating app, why are you looking for friends here!’ and it made me wonder about why there would be a ‘looking for friends’ option then.
(I know what I think it’s for, want to read answers from others)

What is the ‘looking for friends’ option for?

A question for everyone:
If you send a request, would you prefer they declined or leave it open? (that is of course if they don't accept it). 

Curious, because sometimes I'll respond to them months later. I pretty much never accept a request straight away. I'm not always in the mood to talk to new people so I need to build up that energy before doing so.

But I can appreciate if some people feel like they can't move on without it and would rather know asap.

Whenever I've sent requests I tend to try to forget that I have so I don't obsess over them. If they respond, cool, if not, all good. I try to think of it as them doing me the favour of not wasting my time. Or maybe they don't check for ages, or also want time to make a decision.

It seems like every other guy on this app reckons they are weirdly attracted to intelligence. If it's that common, it's not weird. There's a term for it. Sapiosexual. The same people also say they are looking for genuine people.

And yet, the same people, again, message you saying they read your profile, yet ask for something you have very clearly stated that you don't want or offer. And don't answer your questions. So they want an intelligent and genuine woman, yet don't even pay her the respect of reading or listening to what she has to say.

Honestly, do I have to do a series explaining to people why the people they message do not respond to them? Would that help people? Or would it fall on deaf ears because they have already proven themselves to not be interested in what women say?

You need to create a custom filter and use it instead of "For You/Explore" feeds, then the preference is actually working. ✌🏼🤍

If you don't like what someone has in their bio, or it conflicts with what you are looking for, why would you message them to ask for what you want? 

If you have no interest in reading what they have to say, why try to start a conversation with them?

This seems rather simple to me.

For example, if someone has clearly stated that they aren't currently looking for a relationship, or they have kids, why would you message them if you don't want to date anyone with kids or want to get married? It's idiotic, disrespectful, and lazy. Of course you're not going to get a response. 

Me? I won't message anyone with a blank bio. Why? Because I have no idea what kind of person they are. What are they trying to hide? And that's ok. It's their choice to put nothing in it and it's my choice to swipe past them. I don't have time to figure out if we even have anything in common to talk about. That's the whole point of the bio. 

People need to stop blaming others for a lack response. There are so many reasons why someone won't respond to a request. It's not your fault. It's not their fault. It's just the circumstance. You can do everything right, but if the other person isn't interested, they aren't interested. No one is entitled to anyone's time. You don't have to read this post. You don't have to read my super long bio. But if you want to message someone you should at least look for the points where you can self exclude. Because if you're looking for a relationship, you won't find it with someone who doesn't want one. Why would you try to waste their time, as well as your own? It's about quality, not quantity. Your time is precious. Don't waste it chasing people you don't align with, and then blaming them for it. Find your people. No one is for everyone. We are all different and looking for different things. You can't make someone want what you want.
