I find a lot of profiles that state their intention on Boo (including myself) and of course the occasional "empty" profiles (without a bio, unclear purposes etc) as well. 

I understand some people may not read profiles at all and they just want to browse and see what's out there, but what is the mentality behind a certain group of people approaching me and asking me "what are you looking for?"? I find it rude when someone asks me this question without sharing their intention beforehand (or on their profile) when I have made an effort on writing my own bio stating where I'm at and what I'm looking for 😅

Some are obvious, some less predictable. 
Among the obvious:
 - what to think about a woman that write on her bio "childfree", but then tell ypu she already have children and want some more ?
 - if you write "I don't want children", depending on your age it is still possible to change your mind.
 - if you already have children, it is not possible to change your mind (rare exceptions, but I won't develop here)
 - never choose someone that just departed from her partnership. Wait at least 1 year and 1 day before choosing. You can be friend and learn from each other in the meantime. 

Less predictable:
 - talking about emotional intelligence means "you" know what it is, and "you" are somehow gifted a minimum about it.
 - women complaining about their ex ... whereas time tell you it was her, not her ex, the real problem. 
 - some are single because looking for quality, exclusively. And can wait 20 years being single because of that. 
 - some are single for a very good reason. And you don't want to know about it. 🤭

I may look like a parrot, repeating the same principle:
Choose honesty. Always. 
Better now than later.
Life is easier this way.
And trust build on honesty. 
If you're aiming for a lifetime positive relationship, that's the way to go. 😊

I’m genuinely curious what people think. Saw some comments today where several people were saying things along the lines of  ‘this is a dating app, why are you looking for friends here!’ and it made me wonder about why there would be a ‘looking for friends’ option then.
(I know what I think it’s for, want to read answers from others)

In my opinion that's a very honest and mature gesture. Someone with genuine intentions to find his soulmate, very mature, no hidden agendas, and doesn't afraid to show his realistic views about international dating.

To be honest this type of person is way, way better than the "love bombing" ones. The one who'll say everything to get women's attention, to make women want to give them chance, while in fact, they're actually afraid of making commitment.

It's okay to have preference for the ideal partner. One that NOT okay is when you picked / decided to date someone who is not your type just because you feeling lonely or to fill the void. And cheating behind them once you get a chance to date your type later when you find one.
