I think my cat is allergic to me

She’s actually my homeowner’s cat. We have a mutual interest where she likes to be pet and I like to pet. However, whenever I finished she would lick herself intensively. At first, I thought she just fixing her fur, you know, like every noble cat does (I don’t think it’s necessary because she barely has any fur). Just now, I noticed that she licked and bite herself intentionally at specific spots (like human when you have an itch). I mean she do what she does but it’s hurting my feeling a bit too. Could it’s possible that she has an allergic to me? And if she does, how can I satisfy her? From an concerned individual, A (edited)

It could be the laundry detergent you use, but I doubt she's allergic to you. I definitely wouldn't waste my energy worrying about it 🙏😌

They groom after you touch them because they want their scent back and to not smell like you. It's normal. Cats can be allergic to humans but it's very rare. I'd check the skin for rashes under the fur where you pet her the most. Otherwise she could be itching because while cleaning she tickled herself or found an itch. This is very normal behavior. She let you pet her, so she likes you petting her, but it is her instinct to hide the strange smell cuz it could be dangerous in the wild. If I remember correctly.

As a cat owner: it is very unlikely they're allergic to you. Grooming is natural and they'll sometimes groom themselves after a petting session to "fix" their fur and also chew any itchy spots. As long as they're not licking/chewing the same spot over and over, it shouldn't be of any real concern

Cats don't like the smell of human on them, she's just trying to get rid of your smell when she does that

I think maybe your cat didn't like your smell parfum. Or something else not from your body smell, like our moisturizer, or hand body
