A Perspective of Humbaba from the Epic of Gilgamesh

I am Humbaba, the fearsome protector of the cedar forest. My job is to guard the trees from those who would seek to cut them down and destroy this sacred land. For centuries, I have fulfilled my duty, defending the forest with all my might. One day, a man named Gilgamesh appeared before me. He was accompanied by his loyal companion Enkidu, and they came with the intention of cutting down the cedar trees and plundering the forest. I could not allow this to happen. It was my duty to protect the forest, and I would not let these invaders destroy it. I stood my ground and confronted them, warning them of the consequences of their actions. But Gilgamesh was determined to carry out his plan, and he attacked me with his sword. I fought back with all my strength, but eventually, I was overpowered and defeated. As I lay dying, I realized that my efforts to protect the forest had been in vain. Despite my best efforts, the trees would still be cut down, and the forest would be destroyed. I had failed in my duty as the forest's protector. But even in my final moments, I found solace in the fact that I had stood up for what I believed in. I had fought bravely to protect the forest, and I had given my life in defense of this sacred land. And while my death was tragic, I knew that my legacy would live on, and that future generations would remember me as a hero who had given everything to protect the natural world. And so, as I closed my eyes for the last time, I knew that I had fulfilled my destiny as the guardian of the cedar forest. Though my life had ended in tragedy, I had died a hero, and that was all that mattered.
