How do you make new friends as an adult, and then maintain those friendships?

I get along with people in passing but I find it so difficult to reach a deeper connection and maintaining friendships is something I've always struggled with. Or do adults not make new friends? Is everyone too busy?

Minature Dachshunds pups

As people sharing their pets :) i thought i would share, i have 8 Minature Dachshund adults, and these 2 girls not long given birth to 5 pups each 🐾🐾18 days old, and 6 days old 😎 Bristol UK 🐾

But like why can't it still be like this?

Making friends as adults seems to be hard for many people, but why can't we go back to the old ways. (edited)

I'm not sure I agree with this. I feel like I teach my son these things all the time, and I know an adult taught the applicable ones to me as a kid.
