Origami Butterflies

I am making origami butterflies And they are yellow because it is your favourite colour And though these butterflies are not for you I can sneak you one I sit in bed at nearly midnight And you are asleep already And I am folding origami butterflies of you They spill off my bedside table And this morning I am carrying A bag that feels empty Because it is full of nothing But those origami butterflies And I tip them out in the flat that is Not quite not mine And pile my bag full Of physical heavy corporeal things And I scrape the butterflies up Off the floor and throw them Over the detritus I have packed Without any particular care And later, much later After I have already led the butterflies to their flowers I lie in your bed in your surroundings And there is an origami butterfly flying, dangling from your ceiling
