To a Mouse 🐀 on Turning Her Up in Her Nest With the Plough, November, 1785
Wee, sleekit, cowrin, tim'rous beastie, O, what a pannic's in thy breastie! Thou need na start awa sae hasty, Wi' bickering brattle! I wad be laith to rin an' chase thee, Wi' murd'ring pattle! I'm truly sorry man's dominion, Has broken nature's social union, An' justifies that ill opinion, Which makes thee startle At me, thy poor, earth-born companion, An' fellow-mortal! I doubt na, whiles, but thou may thieve; What then? poor beastie, thou maun live! A daimen icker in a thrave 'S a sma' request; I'll get a blessin wi' the lave, An' never miss't! Thy wee bit housie, too, in ruin! It's silly wa's the win's are strewin! An' naething, now, to big a new ane, O' foggage green An' bleak December's winds ensuin, Baith snell an' keen! Thou saw the fields laid bare an' waste, An' weary winter comin fast, An' cozie here, beneath the blast, Thou thought to dwell- Till crash! the cruel coulter past Out thro' thy cell. Thy wee bit heap o' leaves an' stibble, Has cost thee mony a weary nibble! Now thou's turn'd out, for a' thy trouble, But house or hald, To thole the winter's sleety dribble, An' cranreuch cauld! But, Mousie, thou art no thy-lane, In proving foresight may be vain; The best-laid schemes o' mice an' men Gang aft agley, An' lea'e us nought but grief an' pain, For promis'd joy! Still thou art blest, compar'd wi' me The present only toucheth thee: But, Och! I backward cast my e'e. On prospects drear! An' forward, tho' I canna see, I guess an' fear! - Robert Burns

I'm attracted to Chaos. No I don't mean Eris. I'm addicted to pain like I'm on a ferris, Wheel around and around, True love never found it but, I know where the problem is, Me, crave peace, never had it. Please give me that fire. Your anger, desire. I, have to go through this. Yes, I deserve... (edited) read more

Less of Her
I see less of her in my waking hours Am I finding from her or she from me? The light and love she bestowed upon me was the greatest power Why can't I give her more of me? She used to appear in my dreams She used to make me see reason She used to appear in all seasons Now there's just less of... read more

Poem of Burden
I never meant to be too much These words, the weight they sometimes carry I wish I could write cute couplets all light and merry but the words rarely come out that way Uncertainty and anger set up homes here and have seen fit to stay. Even though the words are oft heavy they are the easiest... read more

Goodbye
To you my friend You were a joy I spoke words that cut you deep Time passed and I tried to fix As the setting sun nears I see the string of fate end so to You never wished to fix So I must stop So to you I say A final goodbye My saddest goodbye And leave you with the warmest hugs And hope peace be... read more
