As I return home, if only for a fleeting weekend, I’m haunted by how long it’s truly been. Time unraveled in my absence, and the world around me changed, No choice was mine to make, though my heart screamed to remain. Life strikes mercilessly, testing every ounce of strength, Yet all I could do was march forward, blind to where the road went. The hours, the minutes, the seconds claw at my soul— How I ache for the moments lost, for the place that makes me whole. Adulting—a distant, unforgiving world, cold and unkind, Forcing me to fight each day, leaving the warmth of home behind. But I trust the process, though it tears me apart, Believing the right time will heal this weary heart. Still, the road is brutal, the nights colder than I can bear, Yet I push on, refusing to give in to despair. Even in this lonely, hollow space, far from the peace I seek, I will not quit, I will not bow, though I feel so weak. For in the end, I know—battered, broken, I’ll return To that paradise called home, where my restless soul will glow.
