This painting, ‘See You on the Other Side’, is one of the last works that Matthew Wong made before his death. Wong here portrays himself as a solitary figure, gazing at a house in the distance across a white expanse, which resembles a frozen lake. The white space is unpainted canvas, creating an artistic void. Wong appears to have wanted to communicate that he would be leaving for good. He only has to cross the plain, and he will be home.
