I think mostly not accurate. Romantism as literature genre, perhaps, but in general it is not so simple... Do Romantism place emotional depth over reason? - No of course. Because reason and social darwinism are not equal. For an example: when your lover falls into hell abyss try to save him (like in stupid American movie 'Mummy') it is a did for a reason, but it is not socialdarwinistic approach when you just leave and try to find a new husband after. Nazists in times of second world war, were pretty romantic, for an example. The reason of Postmodernism arise, and alond with it, a pretty degenerative pop-culture, one of the reason, was exactly, the fact that romantism and classicism associented with old world and wars. And no, some very common things of romantism, like idealism, heroism, can be discovered in old epic tales. So Romantism not just emerged like a protest from nothing, even in time of burning womans by Church, thing like tales of Richard, tales of Roland and so on... My statement is: a false vision will be if represent romantism as rebellion. By the way, many romantics were Catholics... (edited)
