Stinky smoke from candles

Before I went to bed I had scented candles lit and blew them out before sleeping. After a few minutes I noticed a stinky smell like a candle is still smoking out. When I checked the candle I saw that the two candlestings were bowing into each other, leaving a tiny ember emitting loads of smoke! I wanted to bring it to the bathroom to drown the ember, but that would trigger the smoke alarm so I relit the candle then blew faster, so yeah. The ember is no more and I am glad I noticed the smell or else I may have passed out or worse
