It's funny as I've been learning about history recently (at least ancient Americas, pre-Biblical Middle East, Ancient Egypt, ancient India) women were allowed to work, own land, and get divorced if they wanted. It was only once organized religion took over they lost their basic rights.

I believe women like her only come once in centuries. Her qualities and resilience is admirable. The fact that she, an ordinary Slavic girl, not only survived the local snake's den, but was also able to get to the very top, makes her story unique and at the same time terribly sad
