Portugal here! I believe it is totally possible! I have very good friends from every place I traveled, I haven't seen some of them for over a decade now but we still keep in touch. for lovers it is still possible, but a bit more delicate.. it depends on how much we trust each other, the way we deal with our insecurities, how much we invest in communication and all the little things that will keep the relationship alive. Maybe I'm just a hopeless romantic but I believe true love can conquer anything, even distances.
