Sign Language awareness challenges

I have lived in USA my whole life and have recently moved to Ireland for school and work. I have noticed a radical difference between awareness of sign language between those two countries. Which makes me wonder, what's the biggest barrier for sign language awareness to grow. I'm proud to be Deaf, but disappointed in the hearing community about their lack of knowledge about their Deaf community. It also could be on the Deaf community's err side, as they may not be doing enough to spread the awareness. But I do know how hard they work on it, so I'm leaning more to the hearing community non motivated actions, not really including Deaf representation in conversation with parents of deaf child. That aside, I want to meet people who wants to learn Ireland sign language with me, and help me grow Ireland's awareness about ISL.

I would actually encourage that, to have all school teach sign language and have all subjects taught in sign language along with audio to maintain the skill levels so when hearing people do meet Deaf folks, the Deaf people can feel included and be part of the interaction instead of being excluded

I met a blind person once, but never a deaf person. Its so wierd to think about for me. Closing your eyes and not seeing black, is like covering your ears and not hearings ringing or your blood flow.
