Just got my first motorcycle and my excitement for riding is crazy af (Kawasaki Ninja 400 KRT). What are some things I should watch out for or do to keep my bike in the best shape?

Congrats on the bike bro! Saving up for one myself. It'll be the 4th one I've had. It's starting to get cold out and on some of these days you aren't gonna ride for days at a time and unlike cars that can hold up on the cold ground, bikes are are risk for "tire mold", corrosion, and seal damage. So its good to take your bike inside, park it in your garage, or buy you a set of bike lifts to lift it off the ground and put a cover on it.

Make sure you run clean gass through it, get the oil changed every once in a while and check the tires. Always check the tires, if they feel like rubber with grip, your good however, if they feel slick and like plastic then, get new tires. Also, always check the brakes

Make sure to clean that chain often. I can't tell you how many times I have to replace a kinked or rusted chain. Keep it lubed and learn to adjust it. Also look at your services in your manual, sure most of the time it's oil changes but sometimes it's a valve afjustment or checking some bolts. Other than that just have fun and be safe!

If you want to keep your bike in good shape, never drag your service intervals. To me, I won't be a slave to my bike, so I won't be babying my bike. but if there's a possibility of you selling your bike in the future, best to swap your Original fairings to a different OEM fairings...

When it comes to maintenance, get yourself a manual and follow the service intervals. Learn basic maintenance like oil changes, chain tensioning, etc. When it comes to riding, practice in an empty parking lot as frequently as possible, dress for the slide and not the ride, and ride within your limits.

What does everyone ride?

I'm the "if it has two wheels it's fun" kinda person, so I ride just about anything. Recently I've been cleaning up my turboed 2000 yzf r1 (only 8psi but it's plenty fast for me) I also have a 2000 sv650 and an 04 ninja 250 just for little cruises with friends. But the r1 is my go to for fun.
