Fantasy

Told to keep the fantasy, Though you and I weren't meant to be; Forcing to shift my reality; To recall the pieces only true to me. Neither the actor, nor the mask; Of the fleeting, sands of time, From my once distorted past. Your despair, under veiled; Yet, I was ready to accept but you couldn't tell; Just the way you are; But alas, to no avail. Though I knew you were coming; A thought for having all you would need... When it comes to loving you; To be your help-meet. You were the very reason why, Bones and flesh of this, Breathed into life, One kind for eternal bliss; The feeling I can't explain; A mysterious weave. Forsaken, forgotten; You've once prayed for me; Once upon a starry-eyed child's fantasy. And so, I was commanded to show you love; Unconditional, true, patient, and deep love. But you weren't strong enough to see. Even so, I won't ever blame you, or me. The seal was broken. The contract no longer in existence. Even though my love is strong enough for eternity; I couldn't pour into a shattered cup. I've tried you see... And was left to choose me. The sinking feeling of this debt that I carry; Transmuting my life force, And on, I shall tarry. Sing to me of heaven; I will be happy. As I release you; The ephemeral blossom. But still a dying, endless fantasy.
