Why is the hour of 12(12AM&12PM) the first hour and not 1?

I do understand that in military time 12AM=0:00 hours and 12PM is just 12:00 hours, why didn't they make it clock will 24 hours on it?

Why do 18 and 19 year Olds try to match with me? I'm 31, I'm so over taking care of a partner who can't take care of themselves. Do people even look at age anymore? It doesn't matter once your in your 20s when its going up but in your teens it's still huge.
