One partner wants to openly announce their relationship, while the other prefers staying low

I've seen this kinda dynamics around. I don't necessarily think it's bad either way, but do you think this kind of partnership can be built to last? Ps. Hypothetical.

Sure 'can' work.. People have different thresholds, backgrounds, personalities.. I don't think 'staying low' necessarily means bad.. So, it depends on both making the decision of keep going or not.

Right! I agree both have to try to compromise and meet in the middle. Maybe a little give and take to which life event should be announced, and which to remain low profile 😌

For me, no. 😆 How can they last if they can't even agree to one thing. How much more with other things involving their relationship.

Right! Actually am both! Lol. 😅 As in, sure we can declare our relationship status and it's shouldn't be a secret anyway. But not go about posting couple pictures online, that sort of things. Initially he got upset like I had a hidden agenda, but that wasn't my intention. It just leaves room for less gossip that might threaten the relationship.

I believe in compromise. I believe there is a way around it. For example, the one who lays low can request that the partner only announces it to their close friends and family or other specific people. On the other hand, the one who wants to announce it can say, okay, i won't tell anyone, but if anyone asks you, don't deny, because it will make me feel like i'm nothing to you. No two people are going to agree 100% with everything, so with the disagreements, why not meet in the middle?

Depends on the sitch. Some people don't want their business out there because of nosey family members or because they may have a weird stalker they know about and it could put the partner at risk. But if it's for the reasons of let's say they are "talking" to multiple people and don't want them to k ow then it's wrong.

Ooh, I can relate to the stalker. People do envy other couples, cause they wished it could have been them. Yeah, good point! 😊
