Since there are (finally) some decent looking movies in theaters this long weekend, I am looking forward to treating myself to a much deserved break from work and going out to the theater! I really enjoy seeing movies at a different level now that I am single. I love movies and love to discuss and critique them. SO much to think about! I do not remember ever enjoying a movie with a girl because, afterwards, it would always be me talking about it, and her complaining about me critiquing it. Am I wrong? Does anyone else notice how just pointing out wrong or dumb or lazy filmmaking gets attacked by people who think ANY criticism is somehow just negative? I have never been a blind, passive movie watcher. It sure would be great to have someone willing and able to have a great post movie convo, but I have found it is better to have no one than someone utterly unable to understand film or character writing.
