How the universe began is a question we most likely won't be able to solve. Atheists will have you believe that the universe always existed. This is difficult for me to believe since I am very scientific and believe in cause and effect. Stephen Hawking theorized that there is a universal cycle. Universe -> Physical Laws -> Spontaneous Creation -> Universe. The question there is, what began the cycle? Even imagine that we discover we are in a simulation, we then know the creation of our own universe, but will then question the creation of our creators' universe. It is a never ending cycle of questions and can only end by accepting that a higher power started it all. We may even then question the origin of this higher power. (edited)
