Kelso Sand Dunes at Mojave National Preserve

Another watercolor from my many desert jaunts. This one from the Kelso Sand Dunes inside Mojave National Preserve. Set against the backdrop of the Providence Mountains in this very remote park, the Kelso Dunes encompass 45 square miles of undulating dune fields, with some dunes reaching 650 feet above the surrounding terrain. Summiting one of the many dune peaks is no easy feat, as it requires an arduous hike up steeply raked sand slopes. The strenuous trek is rewarding however, with views of the incredibly vast and remote Mojave Desert topography. (edited)
