I don't get the hate for Valentine's Day. People seem to get so triggered by it. If you don't like it, don't participate! It's not some kind of judgment directed at single people. Nobody has ever done anything special for Valentines Day, but I'm not bitter about it. Just let the people who celebrate it enjoy it.

It's a commercial holiday for companies to make money. I do appreciate the love aspect but in terms of all aspects; familial, platonic, etc. reinforcing the romantic aspect pushes the expectation that a partner should do something big for that day rather than make the effort to maintain similar gestures on a smaller scale; which is not healthy as an expectation
