Rate the Film: 2004’s Alien vs. Predator
Where would you rate Alien vs Predator? Feel free to express your thoughts and opinions in the comments. For me: ⭐️⭐️⭐️. Wasn’t well like at released, but Alien vs Predator is a bit more appreciated nowadays because…well…it’s at least not AVP Requiem. While not a great film, it’s still is fun and delivers on what it promises as well as have a good lead character Alexa played by Sanaa Lathan. She’s not deep or complex, but her character is tough and knows what she is doing despite the team going against her wishes as a guide. She also has the best moment in the last 3rd of the film, which I won’t give away, but it’s the best part of the film. Also I like the production design and setting idea in a temple. Granted it’s pretty silly from its setup, but whatever. Like I said though it’s not great. The fact it’s PG-13 means it dialed back on its scares and gore becoming pretty dull in its kills. The other characters are pretty forgettable and are mostly there to be killed. One specific character, while not awful, usually spouts exposition regarding the temple and how it connects with the Aliens and Predators yet we, the audience, can easily figured out based on images and knowledge from their previous films how they’re connected making repetitive and pointless. There is also some weird direction and not great editing in some areas. I don’t know. I like it enough to enjoy it and if you haven’t seen it I say give a chance. It’s nothing groundbreaking, but a good enough popcorn flick to waste some time on.
