It’s better to be feared than loved unfortunately. Machiavelli was right. Also, “listening with intent to understand” means empathy, but If you look at empathy from a psychological perspective, then you will see the dark side of empathy as well. Believe it or not, looking down on people is empathy as well; you listen and understand them, but you found them pathetic. Also extreme empathy can be found in some serial killers and rapist, they do what they do, because they want to feel the pain of their victims through empathy.😔
