I Am
I am Untold by telling And unborn by living In tune with an offbeat melody And ensnared by rhythms that beat like a wave upon the shore Artful and dodging I have avoided the grasping hand of time By allowing the intimate belief Of disbelief take hold And releasing the suspended mental notes Into the air of tomorrow I have knuckled through the bitter outer shell To find the sweet and soft center Tasted the nectar of someone else’s life And found my own wanting in retrospect I am the hermit Seeking friendship I am the companion That wants to be alone I have discovered the order of things Only to find that with it Chaos rules all And fear is nothing more terrible Than the ticking of the clock on the wall To know me, is to understand me And to understand me, one must assume my role And as of yet I walk this personal and intimate journey Asking myself these self same questions I find myself no nearer to the solution than when I started But mark these final words well Where I started Is where I have been moving to All along
