Collecting rocks? But why? Because geology is actually pretty cool to learn about the different types of rock what you can find in them a sapphire for example will either be in marble or feldspar. Where an emerald will usually be found in quartz or calcite. Have a really heavy mineral? Probably contains heavy metals even gold sometimes. The wall rock formations may change but the mineral association remains the same. You can also find fossils if you look in sandstone or limestones shale etc. some colors shines and sparkling of crystals is amazing all the geometry. (edited)
