Curious? Skeptic? Indifferent? My grandparents were from Spain and Trinidad and Tobago, yet I never even thought to identify myself as Spanish or Trinidadian. I seldomly found people back home introducing their ancestry as to who they are, but in the US I've found people tend to do that even if they have no connection to the culture (e.g.: didn't grow up with their grandparents or don't even know them). Thoughts?

How do you feel when a third generation American says that they are from other ethnicities? (Curious to read thoughts from US born citizens as well!)

I wanted to wish all of the souls here on Boo a Happy Pride Month. I know that the world seems like its turning its back on us, especially our Trans brothers and sisters, right now. But let's celebrate ourselves this month and renew our fight. Let's remember that we are all human, we are all worthy, and no one will ever take any of that from us. 

Some of us may be in places where it's harder to express ourselves or our Pride. I would suggest this: find one thing that makes you feel completely yourself or embodies yourself. A trinket, a charm, an accessory or piece of clothing, a rock, a piece of art. A song, a book. Wear that trinket this month. Keep it under your clothes, in your pocket. Listen to that song when you need some inspiration in yourself and some self confidence. Read that book when you're feeling low in a place that makes you feel good. These are things you can do for yourself to celebrate your Pride in yourself that no one else has to know about. 

To those who are still struggling with who they are: It's not a race, it's a Marathon. There's no road map or right way to do things. Don't let other people tell you how you should tell your story, or live it. You are the person who has to live inside of your head every day. You wake up and see yourself, and you have to lay in bed with your thoughts at night. It's not an easy road to travel, regardless of the path. Just know that regardless of which way you go, there's always going to be people there on that path with you. 

Happy Pride Month Boo. If anyone is struggling and needs to talk, feel free to reach out. Remember that in this moment you are worthy of love and loving yourself. It may be hard but it's so, so, worth it.
