I've been playing my Legator constantly for the last couple of days since owning, and thought I'd give some thoughts. Headless instruments are new to me, but I needed something lighter for longer sessions, due to a potential spondylitis diagnosis lingering above my head, Anyway! I wish I could say the Legator is a great guitar, it would be if a few tweaks were made to the design and I hope the newer versions of the Ghost have these. 1) the weight is light enough for me to be able to do long sessions, but it's a bit on the heavy side for my preferences. 2) I don't like the use of proprietary hardware, which is an issue with Headless instruments as we don't really have a standard for it, due to the hardware manufactures not acknowledging we exist as much, Kiesel, Strandberg etc tend to use OEM stuff, Ormsby have Hipshot make their stuff IIRC. 3) The Multiscale is great, so the idea is that the bass strings and the higher strings are at different scale lengths in order to keep the lower strings tight and not flubby. I find it hard to go back to my Edwards 7 with a 25.5 scale now. 4) The Hive OEM pickups are great. I don't want to rip them out, they're a little low output but they're tight enough for my tastes with a 6505 Synergy Module, but YMMV. The pickup selector is a bit flimsy, so I'll ask my tech to replace it when he gets his hands on it, it's just cheap and nasty. It might just need a bit of contact cleaner though, the downside to these slanted pickups are you might have to route the pickup holes to fit EMG's or whatever in. Which is a shame, but I don't need to change them. 5) needs a bit of fretwork love, but that's the case with used instruments 6) this is the killer for me and it's why I'm looking at another brand, there's two major flaws with it. One is the nut placement and the volute on the back, it makes open chords really difficult, voicings such as F11, F6/9 and C13 are very difficult because I'm slamming my hands into the nut and it's painful, moving it a couple of MM's back would have sorted this, another thing to note is I don't like that you can't get a clean cut on replacing strings. So you've got to watch where you put your hands. It's a solid 6/10 guitar, but with a couple of tweaks, it could have been an 8. Because the foundations are there Clips to come when my tech looks at it.
