I solved space travel last night

I had been at odds i felt like with Elon Musk for a while when I inadvertently messed up a venture he was involved in the whole asteroid mining thing when I suggested if all the rare and precious elements we have mined here on earth crashed here in asteroids and meteors then instead of going way out into deep space to wrangle a single unstable object we should just mine the moon think of mother earth like a viking shield maiden if all the wealth of the world struck the earth like blows in a fight then the moon her shield had to absorb as many or more of those blows logically speaking well this caused some problems so I decided to make it up to him since space travel is his life long dream it's pretty simple really first you think of space travel as a road trip but its a life long and several generations legacy type goal we will never board an airplane size space shuttle type vehicle to travel through space so think less space ship and think ark it will be a good size chunk of our entire civilization that will have to take this on the craft needed will be bigger than any thing ever conceived it needs to be an extremely long exact length is flexible but the circumference is the key to the whole thing it needs to be on the inside of the cylinder 11.2 kilometers in circumfrence that's the area needed to create artificial gravity so inside the cylindrical hull that will need to have 10 foot thick lead walls their will habitat rotating rings and a light source facing down or in one direction so the rings will rotate like a day on earth rotation of the earth because the crew will need to grow it's oxygen supply you could never take along enough oxygen in tanks you would need to create an artificial eco system on this ark it's the only way you would need rings for farms and gardens and pastures to raise and feed the live stock you would need rings with industrial purposes to manufacturer any thing you could need like I said this will be a huge chunk of our entire civilization with whole generations being born living and dying and never leaving that ship now we think we need some new kind of warp drive engine that's not true at all first of all we cannot travel through uncharted space at speeds so fast we would collide with a comet or a meteor or asteroid that we didn't know we headed right for so the whole light speed travel thing makes no sense and we assume that our best current jet or rocket engines couldn't move us through space that fast well that's also wrong because all the engines we have now are constantly fighting against the earth's and the suns gravity so in the vacuum of space with no gravity restrictions we have no idea how fast we could make things move with hypersonic capabilities here on earth and remember once you start something moving it won't run out of steam it will keep going unless it hits something or we use reverse thrusters to slow it down but theoretically you could use a timed thrust to gain more and more speed wich will only truly come in handy when space routs have been mapped not by the telescopes we have here on earth but by the explorers who actually travel them then once we know safe routs we can talk about traversing them as fast as possible I don't know what the world thinks that space travel to other planets will be up and running in a month with colonies popping up over night this is not something that will be accomplished by a single generation or several generations can not achieve it this has to be a planet wide endeavor that we will gain inches forward each generation but in the end we will achieve greatness and once we send the explorer ships out we can build recovery and mining and processing ships to do what Mr.Musk wanted we can mine those elements on the edge of our solar system and we may discover something that takes us from moving forward inches at a time to moving in leaps and bounds
