What do you do to stop your mind spiraling into a bad place?
I can't stop nyself from taking my mind to a dark place. Not a place where I'll hurt myself or others, but one that makes me sad, angry, and upset.

It is a horrible feeling, like your mind likes the torture you feel

This is incredibly accurate. And in many ways, the (untrained) mind really enjoys torturing itself, eh? There's something there that makes it feel like the mind is both sadistic AND masochistic at the same time.

Sometimes that journey is part of the healing process. You may need a good cry and then you'll pull yourself out of it. That said, to answer your question usually it's sleep that helps the most haha.

Mhm... yes. That's good advice. Thank you.

Breathe. Imagine roots growing from the soles of my feet, anchoring me to here... To now.. only this place and time exist and matter. Anything from before and anything moving forward is irrelevant. Breathe. Imagine universal energy flowing through the sole roots and igniting the whole body. This calms the mind but also centers the mind onto the actual feeling of being on the human body... The heart pumping, the receptors receiving the lungs feeling, blood flowing. The power of proper breath is pivotal in self healing but also to help assist with anxiety and depression.

I find breathing exercises help alot. Deep breaths but when exhaling exhale slowly as if blowing into a straw. 3 times atleast

When that happens I throw my phone away for a few hours and have a walk outside, really doesn’t matter where I go or what I do. Just let your mind and body experience things that you can’t fully control. For me it’s really the “throwing phone away” part that does the trick. Hope it helps

In my experience so far, the greatest thing you can do is to realize that "you" are not the mind. This is an incredibly liberating insight.

Use your restless mind to solve the problems within your reach, that way when good days come you have less to worry about. Suffering is usually temporary, progress is often forever.
