Hi there. Long time stresser/biologist here :) Your bodies responses can be modified by exercising them, just like muscles. 1. Try to avoid triggers. Short of locking yourself in a safe, it is unlikely to work long term since your body will just find something even more trivial to fret about. The cortisol system WANTS danger. When there is none, it will make something up. But if certain situations trigger you, may be good to reduce exposure to the very worst. 2. Gradually train your exposure to the trigger by approaching it and then stop & wait until relaxed. Repeat. 3. Exercise to train your body to relax stress in other situations. Think gym for your chemicals. Like this: intentionally trigger short bursts of stress (physical exercise, cold bath, pain, ... whatever you like). Follow with intentional relaxation (breathing, meditation, sauna, massage ...) until you feel levels going down. When you repeat, you teach the system how to regulate down from the stress. 10-30 min 1-3/day
