"Welcome to our new center !"

He struggles with autism symptoms.  
.
. 
I walk the journey since his second week in our school.  At that time,  he is 7 years old.  
.
.
The most highlight symptoms that are hard for him to control are;  
1) Hyperactivity - he use to walk around and is not able to sit still within 3 minutes - he needs stimulation for him to feel relaxed 
2) Verbal stimming/hand flipping 
3) Easily annoyed,  meltdown & tantrum 
4) Sensory seeker 
5) Speech delay
6) Lack of eye contact 
7) Lack of expression - social interest 
8) Behavior issue 
9) Prefer to isolate/play alone/withdrawn

.
The amazing journey with him is I learned to be very patient and use gentleness when dealing with him 
.
.
He's one of the most challenging students I ever deal with and it's taken 1 year + to understand his needs and to gain his trust 🥺
.
.
Now he is 8 years old,  
It is blessing moment when I get the feedback from his parents, he is now getting better and improving 😭
.
.
He now able to express the feeling through hugs,  kissing cheeks, and the will to join with other students,  able to sit still more than 5 minutes or more (finish 1 task), his behavior issue reduces,  able to control his tantrum and know how to cool down when meltdown, using body language to communicate. 
.
.
The most amazing development feel so proud of him when he can socialize with others and engage with other friends & teachers.
.
.
I know it needs consistency and keep dedicated to helping him grow... Let's do it until you are able to be independent by yourself and less assist needed ❤️

So proud of him,

After experiencing challenges of many types of difficulties in helping community, 

I'm end up drawn to serve and work with children who struggles with cognitive and behavioral disabilities and support their family to be there for their child development. 

Still new to this journey (1 years 8 month), 

and the journey with special needs children, 
teach me to communicate with them using body language & without using words (they can't even speak a words). 

Assertiveness with genuine gentle heart, 

Genuine eye contact & voice intonation, 

is most crucial skill to build bonding and they will listen to your words.. 

When we have their trust, they became a very good student 🥺😭 they even help you to do your things.. until done.

Although a career as a special educator has its difficult moments, there is a deep sense of fulfillment as you recognize the impact of your teaching on students in need. 

Whether it’s the satisfaction of helping a student give a presentation or encouraging them to try something new, it’s the small achievements along the way that add up to huge successes in the end.

But when you have calm and good vibes, 

they listen to you and try to sit still (some of them actually hyperactive)... or even respond us (some of them are passive)..

Always back for some strength ❤️

It might be a simple and small achievement for some people, but for us as a psychologist and special needs teachers, 

Every slight improvement or achievement is significant and worth celebrating 🤍 
.
.
He struggles with autism symptoms, specifically hyperactivity, sitting tolerance, task tolerance, hand-eye coordination, sensory issues, difficulty regulating emotions, and difficulty in maintaining a calm state. 
.
.
After one year of effort, he was finally able to maintain a calm state, sit still for a longer time, and get tasks finished as needed. 
.
In the first six months of teaching him, he didn't want to get involved and refused to do any table tasks. He usually will walk around and stimming or meltdown/tantrum.
.
.
Patience, dedication, assertiveness, and consistency are the key. I can't give up on him. Like every week,  I'll say to him, 'It's  okay, we'll gonna try again next week ya' 
.
.
After six months ++, he learned to tolerate it slowly. He engages and participates in simple tasks of pre-writing. 
.
.
Now, he fully participates in pre-writing activities while maintaining calm and finishing the task 🥺 
.
.

Parent-Teacher Conference,

He's 7 years old student and struggles with speech delay, GDD symptoms and behavior issues.

We about to do activity outdoor and he took my slipper (he might be not even know it😅) and it an opportunity to experiment for me to understand him better. 
.
I decided to approach him in different way where I put myself in his position and the way he's thinking in order to exchange our slippers. Wow, it work! New skills gain 🤪😍🥰

She is 7 years old and has been 1 month in Pre Academic Class with us :)

Since she is part of our class,  
It's another task of the teacher to 
understand her needs and what things trigger her meltdowns and tantrums, and how we can tackle her for learning.

Undeniable,  
She's one of the most challenged special children that is being entrusted to our class to manage her behavior and learning. 
.
.
Through 2 month's journey with her 
teach me to be more patience and find more alternatives to how to approach her sensitivity to sound, songs, stubbornness, and easily meltdowns/tantrums. 
.
.
I'm still learning to understand her and on my way to tackling her behavior at the same time build rapport with her :)  
.
.
Well,  it may take time to gain her trust but I always believe...  We will be best friends soon with a lot of patience and trust her that she will make it 😊

This what strengthen me to stay with them..  Their uniqueness :)
