we're never getting a show as masterfully executed as The Sopranos

thinking a bit about finales to each gen's greatest television hits. Breaking Bad, Shogun. open endings are hard asf to pull off, some ppl don't like it, but imo they are conclusions on their own. like how Tony's paranoia was a loose thread weaving the series together. it started with it, therapy. ended on a "maybe". that's genius writing. that's his internal struggle. what keeps him up at night. always looking over his shoulder thinking someone's gonna whack him. the point is there was never a happy ending coming. and you're missing the point if you thought there was no price to pay. you get your shoes wet walking along the river. mini series is different. but for smth that long, that ran for years, it felt completed. no wasted dialogue, no filler episode.
