First full Senza illustration for ALTER. In case the story excerpt comes off strange, ALTER is a story about a boy with D.I.D. and (still dwelling on this) reality bender, those familiar with SCPs will know the term. Still not sure yet as a lot of people make reality benders OP and despite having a narrative behind it, I'd rather not add to the pile. That said, Jenin has three alters alongside him in discovering if the world around him is real or warping of reality he cannot recall. So it's a psychological mystery. That should be enough context. ------------------------------------------------------------ Their whispers joined as one, herding together in an effort to imitate a denizen mass. Formless without true identity, pieces of the observed reality taken shape as Jenin became more aware. If nothing, something to dull the fact they were alone in this carved away world meant to protect him. Senza slipped a hand under his coat, resting the minted toothpick on his tongue, swirling about before find its place between his molars and cheek. He took a seat at a bus stop occupied by the ghostly form of an elderly lady, accompanied by the vague recollection of a small Asian lady that smiled with her eyes. Senza could appreciate the anonymity, the blank minds, hollow being without malice or vice. There was a serenity befalling the evening as he watched in silence for some time, only forefinger and thumb spinning the outer dial of his intricate watch. The phantom bus arrived and he and his elderly traveler rose, she continuing into the transit while he continued to his destination. Senza knew the street that followed, identical to Bastion St. where they had tasted their first, greasy vendor beef frank. Salt, tangy sauerkraut, the cold relish that offset the hot meal flooded his orifice. The first had in two days since leaving Perdition. The stale air of the narrow tunnel wafted over him as he descended into the subway, the warm evening at his back gave way to static fluorescent lights. The hushed bustle growing further in, a warm breeze breaking the still air as an intercom sounded a delay. Not his. Quickly checking his watch, it read "1:11:111:1" Fifteen minutes til. He flicked the toothpick aside and eyed the blue coded line he was to take to 'her'. Propping himself against a pillar, Senza produced a book from his coat and flipped to his bookmarked page.
