It's pointless to sit on them, so you might as well toss them in and see if anything happens. Also, likes are 50%+ useless because the desktop site doesn't let you browse incoming likes' profiles unless you pay (and it seems the ability unpaid is spotty in the mobile app?). If you want to connect with someone, send a message, otherwise you're relying on a very low chance of popping in their feed AND them blindly liking in return.
