My bed, built last year. Ignore the window.
I always wanted a thick post bed for sturdiness and anesthetics. I really like the accidental western aesthetic they seem to give off. I over engineered this particular item to a level beyond compare, it goes together like a Lincoln log set and is held together by 4 wood pins I fabricated in the workshop. The headboard sits on two dowel rods and is held on by weight. It rests on 4x4 pillars that admitingly need to be about 4 inches higher. The project took mostly hand tools with a chop saw used for size reduction.
