How long do you have to realize the person you where dating is just flat out ghosting you

Both sides agree this is negative behavior, so why do we continue it? There are exceptions to this, I know. I know I prefer to unmatch or close out the conversation beforehand. Anyone want to brainstorm how to remedy this?

If a person is not giving you any signs they care about talking to you, and there is very little hope it will amount to something... what's wrong with ghosting? I mean if you feel they genuinely wouldn't care if you stopped talking to them anyways. Thoughts? (edited)
