Friendship takes effort and attention. Don't tend to them and they disappear. You can try to fix them but close or distant, people change. They become their jobs or their kids or their wife or their CrossFit etc and you may lose whatever it was that made you friends in the first place. People die, sometimes when they are still above ground, and people realize their life isn't working and disappear to try something else. If they are important to you you can try to hang on but it requires two people trying to stay friends. I'm lucky. My brother ended up being my best friend. I used to have a best friend as well but he didn't like it here and checked out early. Other than that all the acquaintances and fair weather folk have faded away. I have some friends in a professional capacity but thats different. There is a financial component and require less upkeep. So yeah. Friends are what you make of them and trusting friends too much can lead to disappointment. Hold em close if you want to keep them close but beware they have to want to be there too.
