This is an interesting question because we think we can ascertain the "truth" of something through objective observations, but as science evolves we are learning that the way we objectively "measure" anything is coming under scrutiny. There is also the subjective measurements of the human experience but those are usually rooted in cultural. I would guess the only truth is that we don't know what the truth is.

the most important test is continuity. replicable results, especially those which approach our mortality, can be trusted. like, someone may believe eating donuts threee times a day is healthy because they are still breathing but, that incorrect evalutation of results will catch up to you quickly. passing your hand through a spinning blade will always affect your ability to grip things. correct placement of fasteners will always result in stable structure.
