So.. I am a Christian but never understood. Why do catholics pray to Mary? When Jesus is the only way to God and the only who intercede on our behalf.

So I actually spoke to someone about this the other day like literally....he said that praying to the saints to intercede on someone's behalf... people very commonly misinterpret it and misperceive it as a form of idolatry but ya idk...to me tho it's like why would I pray to a saint when there's The Holy Spirit, Jesus and basically the entirety of The Holy Trinity to do that for us anyways,you know?but idk people do what they want nowadays anyways I'd still rather to Jesus tho since He's basically God Incarnate TBH 💯😌

There are many saints you might want to communicate with or invoke the name of when praying. The Catholic Church I went to had a different saint each week they taught us about. Its important to know that there are many people who did the Lord's work and to celebrate them. A prayer is a message from you to God, or whoever, I pray to feel close to my passed away friends and relatives. Saints are just as important in the religion as Jesus and prayer isn't exclusively for Jesus!

Why does the name attached to the prayer make a difference? Is it not the intention that matters? That act of faith the important thing? The doing unto your fellow man thing. Embodiment of love. Fellowship all that. One Truth I learned of the divine is something most of you can never even grasp. That of the divine. No matter what you believe. What you've been taught. All names. And none. Are true. For we as mortal beings couldn't possibly comprehend the actual name of the divine, because especially if you believe in creation, to do so, to understand the true name of "God" is to destroy all of creation by uttering it. 🧐 (edited)
