Cozy, warm, pleasant, like bathing in the heat of the hearth’s flame. This is bliss… the hunger so deep and endless that I had all but forgotten I had been drowning for so long… Gasping for air that was not present, yet the siren came to my side, breathed into me life, and all the complications that come of it. My lungs, heave. My legs, quake. The taste of her pleasure abates my hunger, I forget of worldly things; there is the siren, the flesh of her thighs, the taste of her warmth, the curvature of her chest. This is bliss… I smile, tooth and fang, I bite and I bite, the trickles of red rising in me further joy, the siren sings, and all is well. The hunger not yet empty, but sated… for now. … …… Days pass, and quickly came the clawing icy needles to drag me beneath the ocean waves of my hunger, mere moments of bliss cannot break the tide of it crashing unto me. Its pressure seeps into bone, to break the brittle remains of the self-like chalk under heel. The Siren has left, her song no more echoes in the chambers where once it played. Now silence Now darkness Now sleep For maybe dreams may bring her song back, for but a moment in time; perhaps another wishes to lift my head from undersea and breathe life into what lay at the bottom of the shell of this pallid soul?
