I love shows like The Magicians, GoT, and HoTD for being fantasy shows that don't shy away from profanity, though I've heard some people say that profane language ruins the immersion. Thoughts?

I think ink it depends. Game of thrones goes for a more gritty, down to earth feel and I think profanity adds to that, I do think it would take away from lord of the rings for example

The animated show "castlevania" did it best imo. The profanity always added to the feel of the show, and espeically with the voice acting made it FEEL like they meant it rather than just throways to reach a new audience.

Depends on genre and the world. GoT is set as adult setting. So it's ok there. But LotR? It's an almost high fantasy. It would be out of place. It's not something universal. Personally I prefer the high fantasy feel. That's what I like. That old language. But to each their own. It's all cool within a setting.
