There are many types of fishes that can be adapted to your work schedule or just having a busy life style but, the only issue(s) is the cost, space and multiple transitions depending on their growth span. Essentially they have expensive tanks, you have to clean the tank reguarly, feed them exactly on time usually or at least closely on time to the set schedule you set them on, also they can grow big quickly depending on the species so you'd most likely have to buy more than one tank. Doing the research will also be a good thing due to the exotic types and what will work and won't work with your time and money, also they require multiple tools and filtration systems and if you buy decorative items that also is going to cost a lot.

Don't adopt any animals if you don't have time for them. Any pet requires time and attention. You can feed them, but they also die of sadness when they don't have love. So are pets, even fish. Also... You already have cats! Forget the whim and take care of something that entertains you. Socialize, go for a walk, visit friends, play video games, watch movies, series, etc...

This is my gorgeous half moon, Benedict. He has a lot of ✨opinions✨ but still manages to coexist with a pagoda snail, several mini rabbit snails, a number of mini ramshorn snails, and quite a few mixed cherry shrimp. He leaves the adults alone, and I only see him pick off shrimplets occasionally.
