Beginning of summer I went to the birds of prey sanctuary near lethbridge. First time being in a spot like that. Super cool. As we're going through different exhibits, I noticed something that seemed like a philosophical and existential conundrum. For you see, some birds had a cage they could fly around in, although for raptors used to soaring high and wide, it might as well have been similar to being bolted down to the ground. And the next exhibit, they had these animals out on the grounds, alas, they were tethered via a rope. So. My long winded question to you. And let's create a balance by saying the tether provides identical flight distance as the cage would. What would you prefer? Having absolute freedom in a cage. Or.. Having the illusion of freedom, but ultimately stuck? Bonus points, if you come at it from both a bird of prey AND human perspectives. Or not.
