I identify as a 'common sense liberal,' stripped of all the ideologies that make them dysfunctional.
As someone who believes in individual responsibility, limited government, and real solutions to systemic issues, I've come to realize my values often clash with mainstream liberal talking points. While I care about human rights, equality, and environmental responsibility, I'm not here for performative politics. Instead of just championing causes that sound good on the surface, I think it's time we address the root problems head-on. Here’s what I mean: Abortion: It’s not enough to defend the right to choose; why not address the socioeconomic and health challenges that lead so many women to feel it's their only option? Imagine if we focused on education, healthcare access, and community support that would actually reduce the number of unwanted pregnancies in the first place. Equality: I support equality, but we keep missing the fact that a bloated, overreaching government often creates the inequalities we fight against. What if, instead of constantly expanding government power, we empowered individuals and communities directly? Environment: Climate change is real, but treating fossil fuels like the enemy, rather than pushing for innovations in cleaner fossil technologies alongside renewables, is short-sighted. America has made strides that much of the world hasn’t—why aren’t we encouraging others to follow suit? It’s frustrating to see how far political labels have drifted from real progress. I’m here for the kind of liberalism that values personal freedom, accountability, and practical solutions—without the endless focus on divisive, half-baked policies that seem more like distractions than solutions. Which is why I voted for Trump.

When Tulsi Gabbard, John F Kennedy Jr and Elon Musk all decided to support Trump in their own way on this election that told me they knew something was wrong and though each voiced things they disagree with Trump, they each spoke their reason of supporting trump instead of their own Democratic Party. All three of them said something like the Democratic Party is off track or they disapprove the direction it's going. At least two out of three of them still claim to be Democrat all three are voicing they just want what's best for the country. I see that you too wish for what's best for the country as well. You voted for the person who literally says he wants to use military power against liberals… How does that even make sense? And “mainstream liberals” DO talk about the root of these problems. Why do you think we want universal healthcare which would cover pregnancies and allow for women to afford treatment while pregnant, as well as childbirth and after. Why do you think we want free higher education which historically we have had in America before. Why do you think we want to improve our schools and apart of improving that is addressing WHY some communities are disparaged and not doing well and noticing and acknowledging the common denominator between these issues. Why do you think we support comprehensive sex only education? Not sorry but I can’t see you supporting equality, especially racial equality when you voted for a candidate that greenlighted a comedian who called Puerto Rico a trash island. Or who greenlighted a speaker that hinted at the great replacement theory. Or the person who said that there were certain “black jobs” that apparently black peoples do. You can’t support equality when you support a man who made sexist and repulsive comments against women. Who was charged with sexual assault. How can you support equality when you endorse someone who supports, says, and does horrible things. Expanding the govt to utilize our tax payer dollars to support average Americans is not a bad thing. What you’re referring to I believe (and I’m open to being corrected) is giving states more power than they have which we already know historically and even see today ends badly. And fossil fuels are the enemy though. Like they’ve been saying the warning bells for them since the early 1900s and we have yet to listen. We are already at/past the tipping point. Other parts of the developed world have made much bigger and better strides in protecting our environment than America. Look at japan, Korea, and even Germany and their robust recycling program and how they are very adamant about what can and cannot be recycled. We have some of the largest solar panel farms in the country and we don’t use them. And I would know because I live in a state where in the desert there are massive solar panel farms and they are not being used to the full extent that they could be. We have the oceans which we could arguably use hydroelectricity to power many of the coasts and some of the largest lakes in the world but don’t utilize a lot of hydroelectric power. That’s not even mentioning geothermal or nuclear (not a huge fan of this one but it’s there). To say we need to refine a finite resource that we know causes harmful effects to the planet seems counterintuitive at best. We want to end our reliance on them, not continue it. You say you don’t want divisiveness but voted for someone who wholly supports that rhetoric. He talked about shooting a politician. Putting her in front of a firing squad and killing her. How is that not divisive? Or talking about how “oh if they wanna get to me we made it so they have to shoot the press.” What part of that is sane or ok?

Why aren't you a libertarian 🤷🏽♀️? A lot of what you said is the main ideology and policies of the Libertarian party and want a limited government so individuals can live however they want and have economic independence .

Straight people can't seem to comprehend how we, the LGBTQ community, are feeling post election. It's frustrating. It feels isolating. I feel all alone. The pain is far too much to explain in words. We're all trying to process this trauma. Some are coping better than others. Be there for each other. (edited)

Diverging Realities: The Queer Community Under Another Trump Presidency

What are your personal core values?
