I struggle

With the emotional need to include my parents, but with the logical understanding that narcissistic codependent peeps aren't helpful in my life? Been almost 4 years since I've talked with them...pluscI have an entire preschooler they have no idea about...With the holidays it's so rough? Ideas? Advice?

I think that having a child with you makes it easier to visit them. First off, a majority of their attention will be on the kiddo You have plenty reason to leave the room, or straight up leave and go home. A child can provide endless excuses 🤷🏼 Also it's much better than just a one on one situation. You have a lil sidekick to aid in the battle! If you time things out, you could do a short visit. If things go well, maybe out for lunch after, and to get away from the 'parents house' scene. And then just day goodbyes from the restaurant. And call it a day 🤔

I'd say try to make your approach first through text or phone call. Test the waters so to speak. Just kinda showing up out of nowhere after 4 years would pretty much be a "wtf" moment instead of a potential welcoming.
