Are dating apps still popular, and how do people discover potential matches offline?

In the title, I raised a fundamental question about whether Match Group's acquisition of its competitors has negatively impacted the online dating experience. Initially, I wonder if online dating would have succeeded without such consolidation. Personally, I find it challenging to figure out alternative ways to connect with potential partners outside of dating apps. Admittedly, it might sound a bit awkward, but I'm curious if others share similar sentiments.

I think for most dating apps, it's more profitable to keep people single.

To answer the second question - bc I don't feel like dealing with the first at all rn: By interacting with people irl. I know, it seems super obvious, but it is effective. Whether it be coworkers, absolute strangers, friends of friends, or family friends. If you bother to talk to people, (honestly, whether online or offline), then you'll eventually find one you actually like talking to. From that you can develop a mutual connection with someone (maybe not even that first one you liked talking to) and start dating them.
